Our students had to get up very early as the departure for Dublin was scheduled for 7am. The host families brought their students to the bus and sent their farewells. A little while later, the BHAK Grazbachgasse group was on the way to Dublin – the capital of Ireland. They had a guided city tour first and then checked into the hostel. They all enjoyed their free time in the afternoon. Let’s hear what the students said:
Blog entry by Melanie: We woke up at 5.45 o’clock and met the other fellows at the bus stop. We then drove to Dublin wich took us about 4 hours. Finally we arrived at 11 o’clock at Dublin and start with our city tour. Our tour guide got onto the bus and talked for two hours about Dublin, the famous places and also the famous people there. After that we arrived at the hostel. We played billard for quite some time til it became boring and we decided to visit a local pub. Fabio, Marcel, Luca, Marco, Alex, Stefanie and I drank coke and lemon water – that is the truth, even if you might not belive us ;). At 20 o’clock we got home and went to our bedrooms. There we talked and relaxed looking forward to the next day.
Blog entry by Amar: On Monday we went from Carrigelane to Dublin to stay in a youth hostel for one night. We had a lot free time – I went to Wowburger, Bunsen and H&M. After all that we went to the Dublin Stadium. You need about 30 – 40 minutes without bus or taxi. That was all of the day. The last day was a really nice one for the end.

It is Sunday and the students have time to sleep in and to enjoy a relaxed morning. Some host families will prepare a typical Irish breakfast with toast, black pudding, beans, tomatoes, fried eggs and sausages. If there is still time left, the families will take their students to nearby beaches or villages i.e. Myrtleville, Camden and Crosshaven to enjoy the fabulous views from there. At around 1pm the students will be picked up by our H2 bus and they will head to the beautiful village of Kinsale. It is a lovely seaside town with a many sailing boats in the harbour, narrow streets, colourful houses, galleries, cafes and restaurants. They will meet Barry, our tour guide, who will show them around and will tell them about the exciting history of Kinsale which involves a „White Lady“, pirates and the „Giant of Kinsale“
Blog entry by Jil: Today was the fifth day of our stay in Ireland and until now it was great. The day started at 9 am with an Irish breakfast with our hostfamily. At 1 pm we got picked up by our bus and we went to Kinsale. There we had a tour with a tourguide and after that we had one hour free time. Then we drove to the Old Head Of Kinsale. We saw the wide sea and many cliffs. It was very windy at this place. Afterwards we went to Garretstown beach, where we stayed for 15 minutes. And then we drove back to our hostfamilys. At about 7 pm we had a delicious dinner with our hostfather. And that was the fifth day of our adventures in Ireland.
Blog entry by Sinem: Today we had an Irish breakfast with our host families. Afterwards we went to the bus station to visit Kinsale. The tour guide told us some interesting facts about the giant of Kinsale, the first female pirate called Anne Bonny and he showed us the old buildings in Kinsale. After that we had free time to see Kinsale. My friends and I went to the souvenir shop to buy presents for our families. Later one we ate fish and chips. It tasted very good. At the end of our trip we went to Garrettstown Beach and to the old head of Kinsale. It was very windy but also very interesting and funny.
Blog entry by Sania: We started our day by eating breakfast with our host families. Then we went to Kinsale. Our teachers organised a city tour for us. It was really interesting. We got some information about the giant of Kinsale, the first female pirate called Anne Bonny and we also visited Charles Fort, which is a star-shaped fort. Legends say it is haunted by a ghost called the White Lady of Kinsale. After the tour we had some free time, most of us went to Dino’s to eat fish and chips. At the end of our trip we went to the Old Head of Kinsale and to Garrettstown Beach.

It is the last day in School – time flies so quickly! In the last lesson the students will give a presentation about Ireland-related topics. At the end of the lessons, the students will be given their student reports and certificates. The teachers will also Award three „students of the week“
Blog entry by Nicolas: Today we had school from 9:00 – 12:30. In school we had funny lessons where we played a lot of games. In the last lesson we had our presentations. There were many interesting presentations. After school we went for a short break to the beach, where we took some pictures. In the afternoon we had some free time. My friends and I went to play football in the garden.
Blog entry by Ajla: Today was the fourth day of our stay in Ireland and I liked it very much. The day started with a nice breakfast with our host mother Pauline. After that we got picked up by a bus and we went to the H2 school. First of all we had to put our mobile phones into a box again and at the end of the day we got them back. We learned many new English words and it wasn’t really hard because we learned so much through playing games. There were four teachers named Brian, Jackie, Collin and Lucy. They were polite,f riendly and tried their best to make us speak just in English. After the lessons we went back to our bus. Then we went to the beach, where we stayed for 15 minutes. Afterwards we got some free time and we went shopping to the Mahon Point Shopping Mall by taxi. At 8 o’clock we got back to Carrigaline to our host familys. We ate in Cork, so it wasn’t nessesery to eat at home. After that we went out for a walk with some other students. I hope the other days will stay like these before.
Blog entry by Nico: Today was a great day. In the morning we drove to school with our bus. We had school from 9 p.m to 12:30 p.m. In the first lesson we talked about our self-assessments. We played a lot of games in the first two lessons, with cards, quizzes e.t.c. At our last lesson in school we listend to a lot of presentations about Irish topics, Irish games or famous people. After school we went for a short trip to the beach, where we took a group picture of our class and some for ourselves. In the afternoon we had free time in Carrigaline. We ate pizza at a local pizzeria. It tasted good. 🙂

It is a very sunny morning and the temperatures are rising. It already feels quite warm in the sunshine. The English lessons are well underway. In the afternoon, Fionan, our Ceili dance teacher will join the students for a dance lesson. A cèilidh or céilí is a traditional Irish social gathering. In its most basic form, it simply means a social visit. In contemporary usage, it usually involves dancing and playing Irish folk music, either at a house party or a larger concert at a social hall or other community gathering place. Ceili dances are based on heys („hedges“, pairs of lines facing), round dances, long dances, and quadrilles. The tempo of these dances is usually fast – it will be exhausting but the students will also have a lot of fun!
Blog entry by Jaroslav: Today is the 4th day of our stay in Ireland. I woke up at 7 a.m., had some breakfast, brushed my teeth, changed clothes and then at 8 a.m. I went to the bus stop. The school began at 9 a.m. and ended at 1:40 p.m., during that time we learned some English, Irish and played some games. We had a one hour break and then we had our Ceili dance lessons, where we danced till 4 p.m
